Thunder Creek—a small town near the Oregon-Idaho border and the Snake River and surrounded by large fruit orchards and small family farms—often seems to have been left behind by the rush and bustle of modern day America. A nationally known old-time fiddlers’ festival brings a flood of tourists for a week every summer, many people from other counties flock to the fruit stands that go up during the growing season, and in July and August, concerts under the stars are popular at the award-winning winery about ten miles outside of town.
